June was an exceptionally amazing music month! Here is what I’ve been listening to.
I include five albums and five of my favorite songs from June…though there were so so many more awesome things I enjoyed. I also put an honorable mentions section at the end for some of the other wonderful songs I loved if you are interested and want more stuff to listen to!
It is genuinely super rare for me to find whole albums that are…genuinely 10/10…or maybe at least like an…8.7/10. The first 3 albums are certified no skip albums for me. The last 2 albums are basically no skip as well.
For context, I feel like I only find true no skip albums maybe…a small hand full of times a year. That being said, I implore you to listen…
Albums
rusowsky — DAISY
2025 | Electronic, Experimental, Latin
Favorite tracks: Johnny Glamour, BBY ROMEO, pink + pink, malibU, (ecco)
I can not recommend this album enough. This album is definitely going to be my most listened to album that came out in 2025! DAISY is rusowsky’s debut album and it’s genuinely so amazing. This entire album has so much variety while still being an incredibly seamless listen. All the artist features are insane; I genuinely freaked out crazy style when I saw who was on the album when it first came out. I wrote my favorite tracks above, but I genuinely like every single song. There are a lot of dance-able tracks interwoven with ballads which work so well together. Please please please listen to this. There was a rusowsky show in LA when I was there, but the resale prices were atrocious — I definitely need to see him live at some point.
Les Nubians — Princesses Nubiennes
1998 | Afro-pop, Hip-hop, R&B
Favorite tracks: Makeda, Sourire, Princesse nubienne, Embrasse-moi
Les Nubians is an Afro-French duo influenced by Sade, Ella Fitzgerald, Fugees and many more. This album is so so so sexy and sophisticated…it blends 90s hip-hop, jazz, and African rhythms so beautifully. This album is so sunny to me.
Esthero — Breath From Another
1998 | Acid Jazz, R&B, Trip-hop
Favorite tracks: Breath From Another, Heaven Sent, That Girl, Lounge, Swallow Me
Acid jazz is already a super fun genre, but this album mixes a lot of fun different elements and your ears will never be bored! I saw someone online say Esthero feels like a blend of Sade and Björk; while I don’t 100% agree, I would say that’s a pretty good description. Esthero is so amazing!!! Her other albums are really cool too.
OSAMU SATO — LSD REVAMPED
2018 | Electronic, Experimental
Favorite tracks: Long Tall Eyelash, Fax Factory, Professional Problem, Mayday - Bonus Track
Osamu Sato is a really dope artist makes art, music, games, and a lot of other cool stuff. I started playing this point-and-click game he made that was supposed to be released on the PlayStation, but ended up falling through. Anyway, I was looking at some of his other games and he makes all the music for his games??? This album is so fun and crazy; it feels like a fun strange adventure where you meet some interesting characters you will never see again!
The Six Parts Seven — Everywhere And Right Here
2004 | Post-rock
Favorite tracks: What You Love You Must Love Now, Saving Words For Making Sense, We Can Just Make Out, The Quick Fire
This is so post-rock…it’s so post-rock…it’s very beautiful. I’ve been playing this album a lot on low while reading. Some of the songs felt a little stock music to me…but they all have this very special somber quality to them. I really recommend.
Songs
Khadija Al Hanafi — Always Treat U RiTe
2025 | Footwork, Juke, R&B, Hip-Hop
This song is like WALKING AROUND — like when you have a lot of energy and then you go on a walk and it’s like GOSH finally I can go on a walk! I am so happy that I have the ability to go on a walk.
Red House Painters — Katy Song
1993 | Rock, Slowcore
This song is so devastating. I’ve been looping this song a lot; this is what my June sounded like. My June wasn’t devastating, but I think this month has been making me think a lot.
George Harrison — Unknown Delight
1982 | Rock
This is a song George Harrison wrote about his wife! This feels like a song I’d listen to on a porch outside with a gentle warm breeze blowing.
Marvin Gaye — I Want You
1976 | R&B, Soul
This song is love. This is what love sounds like. This is love. But like maybe really new love — a beautiful new love!
S.E.S. — Dreams Come True
1998 | K-pop
This song reminds me of the first time I ever went to an aquarium. I feel like a little minnow in my minnow class swimming around the rainbow ocean.
Honorable Mentions
Jimped, Simon Jinadu — State of Mind
Houko Kuwashima — la,la maladie du sommeil
Fleetwood Mac — Sunny Side of Heaven
Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed and find something you like!
Also, if you have any music recommendations you think I’d like or just anything you’ve been listening to you want to share, please please send them my way — I am super open to a lot of different stuff and love hearing what other people are listening to.
